So How Good is The Makita MAC2400 Heavy Duty Compressor?
I have found this compressor to work very well and capably to drive my air-powered tools that I use daily in my workshop. I use a nail gun and also various trim and brad guns. The refill rate is pretty quick and I have no complaints about that side of the performance. I have used it to top off car tires and occasionally used it to top off my mountain bike tires, but only when they have needed filling when I had pressure in the tank. It is not worth using as a dedicated tire inflator because of the maintenance required around using it.

Nozzles and Accessories
The ¼” universal quick coupler is great for getting started with the Makita MAC2400 heavy duty compressor straight out of the box in a workshop. There are no additional nozzles and accessories though as this compressor is not designed for general inflation use. I have bought adapters to use with Schrader valves and a needle adapter for balls, and a trigger unit in order to control the air flow for these applications. However you will not be able to use the compressor for these applications without buying your own set of accessories.

The maximum PSI rating of this air compressor is 130 PSI, but you do have to remember that this is an instantaneous pressure and it is designed for using through air powered tools where a burst of air is required, and not sustained pressure for pumping up tires. The pressure gauges are also designed for use with air powered tools as they will show the tank pressure, not the pressure in the item being inflated. Therefore if you are going to use this to top off car or bike tires you will need an additional pressure gauge in order to ensure that the pressure you have filled to is correct.

The Makita MAC2400 heavy duty compressor is designed for light to medium construction tasks. It is great for running nail guns and also trim and brad guns. It is not designed as a high volume pump and so it is of limited use for general inflation tasks. While you can top off car tires and bike tires with Schrader valves, you cannot use this type of pump to inflate road bike tires. I would also advice that you should not use this for large inflatables, such as air beds. However it is pretty good for inflating sports balls.

Ease of Use
The MAC2400 is pretty easy to use. The instructions for start-up and break-in are clear and once those processes have been completed the pump runs as expected and builds pressure quickly. The weight of it means that it is great for use in a workshop, or for out at a job site, but it is not particularly portable. I have occasionally used it to top off tires, which is nice and easy for car tires and mountain bike tires, however I would not run up the compressor solely to do this type of job.

Value for Money
This pump is just under $300 and as a workshop/worksite air compressor for air powered tools it is reasonably good value for money. If you are looking for a pump for general use around the house for both high volume and high pressure tasks, then this air compressor would be very poor value for money.
