Porter small air compressor is a compact and fully shrouded compressor with a 1.5 gallon tank. Designed to be a general purpose compressor for light duty applications this may be the item you are looking for. Before you choose to buy it is worth checking out a few of the pros and cons:
- 150 PSI max rating
- 25 foot hose
- Minimal maintenance required
- Limited accessory kit
So How Good is The Porter Small Air Compressor?
The Porter small air compressor is a compact air compressor and it works well with small compressed air DIY tools. However using it for other applications, such as for car tires and bicycle tires it does not perform well as there is no trigger connector provided with the compressor. When a trigger is connect, the compressor works well for tires.

Nozzles and Accessories
The nozzles and accessories that are included with this pump are minimal. There are three cone adapters, a needle nozzle, a Schrader valve connector and PTFE tape. There are also connectors for connecting into lightweight DIY tools. However there is no trigger connector included, which means that unless an item has in-built air flow control, that it is very difficult to use the compressor.

The pressure gauge is suitable for ascertaining the tank pressure, but it is not suitable for measuring the pressure that is in an item being inflated. So therefore you will require an additional tire pressure gauge for tires. The PSI rating is reasonably good, but because of the lack of control of air flow this air compressor, as it stands, is not suitable for inflating bicycle tires, and particularly road bicycle tires.

I have found the Porter small air compressor to be of limited use without buying additional nozzles and adapters so that I can use it effectively for inflating items that require control of the air flow to be carried out. The compressor is good for light duty DIY tools though. The compressor, with additional accessories, is also useful for car tires and mountain bike tires, but I would not use it on my road bike tires as there isn’t enough control over the air flow, even with the additional trigger, and there is also no Presta valve connector.

Ease of Use
I have found this compressor to be easier to use than other models that I have had. The instructions are good and there is also a minimal amount of maintenance to be carried out. However, in order to get the best out of this compressor I have found that you do need a level of understanding about how they work in order to get the best performance from them.

This air compressor is one of the cheapest on the market and despite its poor accessory pack, it does represent reasonably good value for money if you want a compressor for light DIY tasks and some tire inflation tasks.

I feel that the Porter small air compressor is a reasonable item, but it does not satisfy my requirements for keeping my road bike or my mountain bike shocks topped off. It is useful for general use to top off lower pressure tires and for light duty DIY equipment, but it is not suitable as an everyday pump for a road bike.
