So How Good is The Blackburn AirTower Bicycle Floor Pump?
Performance
I found the very long stroke length of this pump to be ideal for getting my bicycle tires up to pressure very quickly indeed. My mountain bike tires were hitting their required pressure from being half flat in less than ten pumps. Filling my road bicycle tires was just as easy and it still didn’t take a great deal of force in order to get up to 125 PSI.

Nozzles and Valves
The AnyValve head on the pump is a novel design that allows the nozzle to connect to either Schrader or Presta valves without some of the issues that universal nozzles have. I have found the operation of the nozzle to be great with both Schrader and Presta valves, with the only slight issue being the additional space required for the mode of operation of the nozzle to select either the Schrader or Presta setting. If space is tight you may find that this nozzle won’t fit. There are also additional needle nozzles supplied.

Pressure Gauge
The pressure gauge on this pump is a diaphragm style gauge and I have found it to be accurate to within ±1 PSI, particularly at higher pressures. When pumping up my mountain bike tires, the gauge can be a little difficult to use to gain an accurate reading because the scale goes all the way up to 160 PSI (even though it is only rated to 140 PSI), and I only need 40 PSI for those tires.

Durability and Warranty
The Blackburn AirTower bicycle floor pump has a steel barrel and a stamped steel base and I have found this to create a very stable configuration for pumping. The steel components and also the hose material are high-quality, which make for great durability. Should the hose fail, it is also fully replaceable, thus extending the lifetime of this pump even further. The pump also comes with a lifetime warranty.

Applications
This pump is ideal for pumping up all types of bicycle tires and it can easily cope with everything from small children’s bike tires to my road bike tires requiring 125 PSI. With the use of the included needle adapter I can also pump up balls with ease. I have also had to top off my car tires a couple of times in emergencies, and the pump seemed to cope with this fine as well.

Ease of Use
The converting adapter makes this pump very easy to use as the head is not a tight fit over either the Schrader or Presta valves, which also means that there isn’t the associated wear when using the pump with both. Once in place it is very easy to pump up tires to the required pressure.

Final Verdict
The Blackburn AirTower bicycle floor pump is a fantastic pump and I have used it extensively on both types of bicycle valves, as well as on car tires as well. The build style with the foot plate being welded onto the pump means that it is very solid, which in turn makes pumping easier. All in all, a great floor pump.
