If you are looking for the pumping action and connections of a floor pump in a frame pump, the Topeak Mini Morph pump can potentially offer you what you are looking for. Although slightly larger than the average frame pump it may be exactly what you are looking for. Check out some of the pros and cons below:
- Pumps up to 160 PSI
- Reversible Presta/Schrader nozzle
- Hose connector
- Built-in gauge
- Weighs 0.62 lb
So How Good is The Topeak Mini Morph Pump?
Compared to most frame pumps I have used, this one definitely provides something a bit different. Although it weighs more than the average frame pump it also provides more than the average frame pump. The pump folds out to more of a floor pump format with a handle and a foot pad. The inclusion of the hose also means that I have been able to pump my road bicycle tires up to pressure without any worries about putting too much stress through the Presta valves.

Nozzles and Valves
The inverting nozzle makes this ideal for both Presta and Schrader valves. The only slight problem I had with the nozzle is that it is a bit fiddly to invert and required more than the instructions provided in order to complete the job successfully. However, I much prefer this type of nozzle over the universal ones as I have found that they can get chewed up by Schrader valves.

The built-in pressure gauge is a really useful addition to this pump and it makes it very handy for emergency use when I’m out on my road bicycle. The 5 PSI intervals on the gauge are fine for when I’m taking my tires up to 115 PSI, but when using this pump on my mountain bike the intervals are a bit far apart to get anywhere near an accurate pressure into the tires so I tend to use a manual pressure gauge as well.

The convertible nozzle makes this pump great for tires that have either Presta valves or Schrader valves. I have even used this in an emergency on motorcycle tires and it coped fine with those as well. I have found that you need to make sure you get your tire pumping jobs in order though to avoid too many inversions of the nozzle because that can be time consuming.

Ease of Use
At first I was slightly skeptical about the durability of the plastic foot pad and the fold-out handle, but the plastic has turned out to be pretty study and these fold-out pieces makes the pump much easier to use in order to get to the higher pressures for my road bicycle. Although it’s not a total breeze to get up to 115 PSI, it is not too tough and it is definitely easier than using the traditional frame pumps.

Value for Money
The Topeak Mini Morph pump is certainly by no means the cheapest bicycle tire pump I’ve ever owned, but it does represent reasonable value for money because of the capabilities it offers. It can be folded up and stored on the bike, but it offers much of the functionality of a standard floor pump.

While I feel that the price may be a little high for the Topeak Turbo Morph Bike pump, I also think that it does a great job of pumping up all types of bicycle tires and that the reversible valve is the best way of providing nozzles for both Presta and Schrader valves within a single pump. Due to the weight it is perhaps not the choice for anyone who needs to justify every ounce, but for recreational long distance cyclists, like myself, this pump is ideal.
