The RockShox High Pressure shock pump is a small and lightweight, designed for high pressure shocks. The system provides an easy to use attachment mechanism and is of good build quality. If you have high pressure shocks you may wish to consider this pump. However before you commit you should check out some of the pros and cons below:
- Rated to 300 PSI
- Elongated tip for easy attachment
- Swivel hose for easier access
- Slight pressure loss at disconnect
How Good is TheRockShox High Pressure Shock Pump?
This pump is well-made and connects easily even to my Fox Talas valve, which has proved problematic in the past to get pumps to fit properly. The pump easily brings the shocks up to the required pressure and although there is a small amount of air loss at the point of disconnect it is fairly negligible.

Nozzles and Chucks
The elongated tip on this pump makes it easy to use on even the most problematic of shock connections. It is designed for the Schrader valves on bicycle shocks, but it could also be used on motorbike shocks as long as it is accepted that this pump is not really designed for low pressure operation and is not going to give an accurate pressure reading below about 15-20 PSI. Although the pump does not have an anti-leak valve, the twist off valve works well to minimize the air loss at disconnection.

Size and Mounting
I have found the RockShox High Pressure shock pump to be fairly light and when the hose is placed into its position alongside the barrel of the pump it is also pretty compact. Although I don’t mount it onto the frame of my bike, I do regularly have it in my pack for any last minute adjustments to shocks for a particular trail.

Pressure Gauge and PSI Rating
The RockShox High-Pressure pump is rated up to 300 PSI, which is ideal for use with high pressure suspension systems. The gauge is better than most as it is in 10 PSI increments all the way down to 10 PSI. The gauge is unlikely to be of much use below 10 PSI, but I have used it for a general indication for lower pressure shocks.

This pump is great for use with high pressure shocks as this is what is has primarily been designed for. It can be used for lower pressure applications as well, but if you want a pump solely for lower pressure shocks this is probably not the best choice. The pump is not designed for use with tires, but it could be used with Schrader valve tires in an emergency.

Ease of Use
The twist-on valve is very easy to attach to the Schrader valves on high pressure shocks and it is a fairly easy task to pump up the shock to the desired pressure. Getting an accurate reading off the gauge is possible at higher pressures, but I would only use it as a guide at lower pressures.

Value for Money
At $30, the RockShox High Pressure shock pump is reasonably good value for money if you are looking for a high pressure pump for maintaining the pressure in suspension systems on a bicycle. At a push it can also be an emergency pump for Schrader valve tires.

I like this pump and its easy operation and it does a great job of pumping up my high pressure shocks to the pressures I need. The folding design is great and it means I can get access to some awkwardly positioned valves. Not a pump I would recommend purely for low pressure use though as there are pumps with much lower PSI ratings and more detailed gauges that should be used instead.
