How Good is TheBuzzys Pollinator Shock Pump?

Performance

I have found this pump to perform very well on just about every task I have used it on. It is perfectly compatible with all of the shocks that I have, but I did find that it didn’t work with a friend’s Manitou Swinger shocks as I ran out of thread before a seal could be made. Other than that I have used this to successfully pump up high pressure shocks with relative ease up to about 250 PSI.

Nozzles and Chucks

This pump has an anti-leak Schrader nozzle fitted as standard for easy connection to most shocks. It is also supplied with the Rockshox SID adapter for more versatile use with a full range of suspension systems. The anti-leak nozzle works well and there is no air lost form the shock during the disconnection process. The pump also comes with ball needle for inflating items such as basketballs and footballs.

Size and Mounting

The Buzzys Pollinator shock pump is one of the few that is inline rather than having a rotating hose in order to reduce the length when not in use. This makes the length a little bit awkward for easy storage, but it does just fit in the pack I use for biking with. I have thought about frame mounting it, but the width of the gauge and the lack of cover for the nozzle has put me off doing this.

Pressure Gauge and PSI Rating

I have found the pressure gauge to be pretty accurate for the high pressure shocks that I inflate. The PSI rating is 300 PSI so this pump is ideal for my 250 PSI requirements. I have used this on low pressure shocks, but as the gauge doesn’t register pressures below about 10 PSI I would be wary about trusting the pressure reading. However, this pump was not designed for low pressure shocks and so using it for these is just a bonus.

Applications

This pump is great for use on just about every shock I have tried it on, with the noted exception of the Manitou Swinger. The Schrader nozzle and the RockShox SID adapter make using it on all sorts of shocks simple. Although I wouldn’t use it as the everyday pump, I have used this pump on my tires to top off after a flat and the needle adapter makes this an ideal tool for pumping up sports balls.

Ease of Use

This pump is easy to use as the screw-on Schrader nozzle fits easily to the vast majority of high pressure shocks. The RockShox SID adapter is also easy to fit when needed. The inline design of the pump makes this a little more awkward to use than some of the hinged pumps I have tried, but it still works fine. The only slight problem I have had is in the location of the bleed valve, which I have found easy to knock and lose pressure while pumping.

Value for Money

At around the $30 mark this pump is an average price for a high pressure shock pump. I have found it to be a little bit unwieldy when not in use because the hose does not rotate, but other than that this pump is reasonably good value for money.

Final Verdict

Buzzys Buzzy's Pollinator Shock Pump

I am quite happy with the Buzzys Pollinator shock pump. The various attachments that it comes with gives it an added versatility over a number of other pumps. While a folding hose would be nice, it doesn’t affect the overall utility of this pump.
